The Great Wall
After a false start (fog closed the
highway), my friend took me to the Great Wall. We traveled in a bus
the size of a minivan to two sites of the wall as well as the Ming tombs.
Fortunately our early start, as well as the windy cold weather, reduced
the number of tourists. A great world site, and almost solitary
experience. Mao said: "Climb the Great Wall, be a great man".
He really was an extraordinary poet; as was my experience. It
reminded me of Machu Picchu in Peru.
